LOAD ASSESSMENT OF BRIDGES
Bridge
Diagnostics offers a comprehensive service for assessing the capacity of short to medium span road bridges and footbridges, constructed from timber, concrete and / or steel. The technology is also applicable to some types of rail bridges.

An important part of the advice that accessUTS Bridge Diagnostics can provide to assist Councils is not only what the “rated” capacity of an aging bridge is – but also what the expected load increase in replacing girders can be anticipated. This is particularly helpful where testing indicates that one span is weaker than others.

SPECIALIST DESIGN & CONSULTING
Bridge Diagnostics also undertakes specialist consulting projects, providing advice to other Consultants and Bridge Managers and undertaking analysis and design work for repair and rehabilitation of bridges, which have been assessed as structurally deficient. Our expertise in the areas of timber bridges and structural dynamics is internationally acclaimed - providing state of the art technology to our clients.

In addition to our expertise in testing using traditional static loads as well as dynamic frequency assessment methods, we also have considerable expertise and extensive experience in computer modelling of bridges (and other structures) using FEM and other analysis methods.

LABORATORY TESTING
The laboratory facilities at UTS for testing of structures are extensive and well equipped. Since 1990, we have undertaken laboratory testing ranging from full scale destructive tests of timber bridges, to materials testing of bridge components. Our structural dynamics testing facilities are world class, with extensive instrumentation and analysis software complemented by a sophisticated shake table facility.
